Bench Sponsorship
You or a group are invited to sponsor a bench to commemorate special events, honor individuals or organizations, or memorialize loved ones. Benches can be ordered at any time to be placed in city parks, trails, or lake facilities. Benches can be inscribed with a message of love, recognition, hope, or inspiration. The historical dedication of a bench provides a lasting tribute in honor or memory of a loved one and enhances the meaning of a bench to users of our beautiful open spaces.
Process for requesting a tribute bench:
- Submit an application to sponsor a bench.
- After submitting your application, someone from Greensboro Parks Foundation
will reach out to confirm details. - Once the bench application is approved, an invoice will be sent. Payment is
due upon finalization of the order.
Once a tribute bench has been donated, we will work with you until the project is completed.

Name Plaques
In the application you have the option of adding an inscribed plaque to the bench. Standard plaques are 8” w x 2” h cast bronze and allow for a maximum of 3 lines and 18 characters/spaces per line. For an additional $155 (after paying $3,000 cost of plaque and shipping) a larger cast bronze plaque may be ordered that is 10.5” w x 3” h and allows for a maximum of 4 lines of text and 24 characters/spaces per line.
Bench Design and Pricing
Standard tribute benches are 6-foot wide, made with recycled plastic teak panels and cast iron supports, and reside on an ADA accessible concrete bench pad. Other bench styles may be available depending on the requested location. The total cost for a tribute bench is $3,000, which includes the bench, shipping, concrete pad, installation, upkeep, and a personalized plaque. For bench orders that include the optional larger plaque, the total price is $3,155.
Participation in the Tribute Bench Program requires the bench sponsorship fee to be paid in full by the donor within ten (10) business days of the application approval. The fee will cover the cost of installation and maintenance and, when applicable, the purchase, inscription, and installation of a commemorative plaque.
Placement
We will do our best to honor the location where you wish to have your bench installed. Park operations staff will meet you on site as needed to finalize a location. You also may allow us to select an appropriate location where a bench is needed.
Timeline
Benches typically take 8-12 weeks to arrive once order details are finalized. Benches are typically installed either in May or October, depending upon which aligns best with the shipping date of the bench. We will keep you updated during the shipping, receiving, and installation of your bench.
